Au Pair Screening

Because your children are too precious to leave with just anyone, all our au pairs go through a rigorous screening process – including police and medical checks, childcare and character references and a personal interview to assess their English ability and suitability to care for children. All our au pairs also have at least 200 hours of documented childcare experience, but on average, this is much higher!

Once you’ve shared your family’s preferences and created your profile, we’ll handle the rest, ensuring we find the ideal match for your needs. From continuous support throughout the placement to seamless sourcing, we take care of every step to ensure a smooth experience for both your family and your Au Pair.

Host an Au Pair in 4 Easy Steps

Step 1: Registration

As a host family, you can register with Au Pair Link for free to find your perfect Au Pair. Fees are only applied once a successful match is made between you and your chosen Au Pair. Registering is quick and simple with our user-friendly application form.

Once we’ve reviewed your application and accepted you into our program, you’ll receive login details for your own Au Pair Link account. From there, you can create your family profile, upload photos, and provide references to get started. We’ll guide you every step of the way to ensure all necessary documents are in place.

Step 2: Consultation

Enjoy a quick, friendly chat with an Au Pair Link team member to explore your family’s needs and clarify the process. The more we learn about your household, the better we can match you with the ideal Au Pair.

Step 3: Interview

Gain access to our diverse pool of Au Pair Link candidates, create your shortlist, and connect with them via video chat. To make the process seamless, we’ll provide you with a helpful interview guide.

Step 4: Matched

Welcome your selected Au Pair into your family with ease and confidence! From preparing all the necessary documentation to ensuring every detail is covered, we’ll handle the logistics so you can focus on building a meaningful connection.

Once matched, here’s what happens next:

Au pair preparations

We will take care of everything, ensuring a smooth and seamless arrival for your Au Pair in New Zealand. From managing the visa process to arranging flights and travel insurance, we provide full support for a stress-free transition.

Arrival & Orientation

When your Au Pair arrives in New Zealand, we’ll ensure a smooth transition before they begin their placement with your family. All Au Pairs attend an orientation in Auckland, which includes First Aid training, an overview of their responsibilities, and guidance on cultural integration to help them settle in. This prepares them to be fully ready for their stay with your family. Auckland-based airport transfers are included in the program fees. After the orientation, your Au Pair can either be dropped back at the airport for their onward flight or picked up by you if your family is Auckland-based.
